Each piece is individually hand-built in my studio on the Somerset–Dorset border. I work using traditional coiling and clay-modelling techniques, finishing each figure with oxides and underglazes to bring character, depth, and life to the surface.
Clay, as a material drawn from the earth, mirrors the way people are shaped by their environments. My work explores how individuals are moulded through a convergence of natural, cultural, and manufactured influences. Every piece has its own narrative, reflecting the evolution of individuals and celebrating their complexity and uniqueness.
I am particularly inspired by how people are shaped by history, society, culture, and the intimate relationships around them. Much of my work draws influence from the depiction of women in art, literature, folklore, and history through the ages.
While my work is conceptually driven, the act of making remains deeply intuitive and cathartic. Creating these figures reflects the connections and meaningful time I share with those closest to me, grounding the work in both personal experience and wider human themes.
